In the sport of MMA, there are surprisingly few men roaming the octagon with full lumberjackian beards dripping with testosterone, and smelling of venison. Here are a few fighters who have laid the razor to rest and allowed their untamed follicles to run wild. Perhaps some of them use the extra growth as padding, while others are just too lazy to keep their hygiene in check. Either way, here they are:
#10 Nate Marquardt
Of all the fighters on this list, Nate Marquardt has the most well kempt beard. He has the look of a distinguished gentleman and he is a pretty friendly guy. Marquardt is a wrestler with good knockout power. Just ask Demian Maia.
#9 Roy Nelson
“Big Country” Roy Nelson is a journeyman fighter who has been around for a long time. Over the years, he has gotten fatter and fatter. But one thing he’s managed to keep under control is his beard. If he let his beard go like he did to his body, he’d look like Santa Claus. A big fat, redneck Santa Claus.
#8 Lucio Linhares
Brazilian up and comer Lucio Linhares has had a beard in some form or another for as long as can be remembered. “The Spartan” holds a black belt in BJJ. Maybe he uses his scruff like sandpaper and shreds his opponents while on the ground.
#7 Charles Bennett
Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett is known for his wild antics. That’s why he doesn’t have time to groom himself. He holds a record of twenty-two wins and fifteen losses. That’s a pretty topsy-turvy record. But on the plus side, he’s only gone the distance six times in thirty-nine fights. He either knocks his opponents out, or exhausts himself until he is submitted. There is an eighty-five percent chance that Bennett does not go the distance. Whether he wins or loses is another matter completely.
