Top 25 Most Awesome Robots of All Time


When we first sat down to determine the top 25 robots of all time, I was torn. I just kept putting down the names of real dolls, but the other editors overruled me and then we actually got down to business. We are taking a look at the coolest, toughest, most inspirational robots of our time. And while the Jenny Face-11 model didn't quite make the cut, here are some robots that made us laugh, consider our humanity, or blasted us in the face point-blank with a sawed-off shotgun.



  25. Mechagodzilla (Gojira tai Mekagojira)

Best movie robots
Godzilla's mechanical doppelgänger has a laser cannon in it's mouth to mimic Godzilla's atomic breath. Back in 1974, this movie messed up the heads of many Japanese people.


  24. The Sentinels (X-Men 3)

Best movie robots
The Sentinels are programmed to hunt, capture or kill X-men mutants by their inventor, Dr. Bolivar Trask. They can't be bought, bullied, appealed to, reasoned with, or bribed. They won't even accept a vast quantity of delicious taquitos from your local 7-11. They are robots, and they don't eat. In fact, they are stone cold machines that hate change.

  23. Daft Punk (Electroma)

Best movie robots
The unstoppable French duo consisting of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo brought to us Electroma - the quest of two robots to become human. Daft Punk aren't only cyborgs, they are one of the most musically gifted groups influencing the music industry today.


  22. Fembots (Austin Powers)

Best movie robots
Dr. Evil creates the perfect killing machines known as fembots. These machines like to lure their victims in with their beautiful tatas before turning them into pulp with a ratatatat from their concealed breast guns.


  21. Gigolo Joe (A.I)

Best movie robots
Gigolo Joe is a male prostitute mecha on the run after being framed for murder in Steven Spielberg's Artificial Intelligence. That's about it. He's an android that fucks people. But watch me pad the countdown with real dolls and my job's on the line...
